A Summer's Day at St. Meinrad Archabbey
Sometime in our lives, maybe many times, we experience that personal contact with God. It may be in bed at night before sleep, or in the Adoration Chapel, or even while driving on a trip. We probably don’t remember the particulars, but we seldom forget the happening.
The one time I have never forgotten was one that occurred on a visit to St. Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana. Six Serrans were making our first visit to our seminarians. In the afternoon we had some down time. I picked out a bench on the campus for some reflection. It was a beautiful fall afternoon. It was in the quiet I felt God’s presence. As usual, for me, it came in the form of an idea which I thought was mine. Upon further thought I knew it was not mine, it was God speaking to me. At the same time there was a feeling of peace. A moment I have never forgotten.
