A gift to Serra KCK from Jack Lawrence

Saint Junipero Serra Statue

This statue, one of the best images of our Patron, Saint Junipero Serra, was ordered from a Catholic Store in Houston by Jack Lawrence and was given to our Club for exhibition at all of our meetings.

The statue is of Cold Cast Bronze, hand painted, 9" high and was created as part of "The Veronese Art Collection", a Chinese company with major outlets in Shanghai, Taipei and Hong Kong. Many Catholic Stores in the United States, like the one in Houston, import bronze sculptures from The Veronese Collection.

Celebrating Our Religious Enthusiastically

Placeholder photo

Although we all may feel we have had more than enough, the sexual abuse crisis that has so seriously damaged the Church has yet to abate. While we continue to pray for peace and healing in our Church it is also necessary that we actively support and affirm the vastly larger majority of our clergy who have remained faithful to their holy ministry. That is exactly what Celebrate Our Religious Enthusiastically (CORE), sponsored in part by metro KC Serrans, offered our clergy this past September 15th at LionsGate Golf Club and St. Michael's Parish Center.

See how CORE enthusiastically celebrated our clergy in two slideshows here and here.

Reflections on CORE 2018

Archbishop-Emeritus Keheler and Fr. Joseph Arsenault, SSA discuss the impact of CORE 2018 on our clergy and Church in the midst of the current sexual-abuse crisis. Click on the "full screen" icon at the bottom of the video to view the video full screen.

God Moments

We evangelize each other by sharing personal stories of faith. That is the purpose of God Moment. Read a compelling story of faith experienced by all Serrans on August 12, 2018.

Photo of two Serrans embracingI dreaded it, explored ways to avoid it but found that I had not real choice. Sometimes the things that we dread the most turn our to be wonderful "God Moments".

Read about this "God Moment here."

Coming in October and November

1. Oct. 9-11 Visit to St. John Vianney Seminary

Information and transportation opportunity on the Calendar page

2. November 4th Vocation Mass

Location: St. Agnes Church,
5250 Mission Rd, Roeland Park
Time: 10:00 am
Sponsor: JOCO Serra Club

The Johnson County Club would also like to have a presence at the 4:00 pm Saturday vigil Mass and the Sunday Masses at 12:00 and 5:00 pm. We will need one or two people at the other Masses to stand in the back of the church to answer questions. This is an interesting concept, and we will see how it works. Again, the main Mass for the group is at 10 a.m. If you are interested in representing Serra at the 4:00 PM Mass on Saturday, or the 12:00 Noon or 5:00 PM Mass on Sunday, please let Jack Lawrence know jlawrence@kc.rr.com

3. Memorial Mass and Dinner November 14th at Milburn Country Club.
