Our annual Memorial Mass and Dinner was celebrated on Wednesday, November 14 at Milburn Country Club. There were 108 attendees including seventeen widows of our deceased Serran brothers. Click here to read the names of the widows who attended the 2018 Serra KCK Memorial Mass and Dinner
Our Chaplain, Monsignor Mullen celebrated the Memorial Mass, assisted by server Larry Volz, lector Pat McAnany, cantor John Coakley, Eucharistic Ministers Bill Bockelman, Burton Huerter, and Larry Volz. and gift bearers Daniel & JoAnn Meara. Cindy Bounds, whose husband Royce Bounds had just passed away that morning, was the accompanist. Monsignor Mullen honored our deceased brothers as he read each of their names.
After Mass there was a social hour with cash bar. The meal featured a choice of a boneless chicken breast in sherry mushroom sauce or sautéed seared salmon fillet in citrus butter sauce. The food lived up to Milburn’s high standards and seem to be enjoyed by all.
Each year, Serran Rick Wiseman, Porter Funeral Home, presents a Memorial Candle to the widow of each member who died during the year. (The candles feature a picture of their loved ones with the dates of their births and deaths.) This year Peggy Freeman, whose husband Gene passed away this past March, received a candle. Peggy brought her six children to the dinner too.
