John Muehlberger took me to the home of Ben Zarda so that I could get a photo of him for our printed and web rosters and to have an opportunity to talk with Ben about his interest in Serra and his support of the 5th Grade vocation day. John has known Ben and his family for a number of years. He met me at the Hereford House and led me from there 1 or 2 miles to the Zarda home on a hill surrounded by beautiful festive scenery.
I was graciously greeted by Ben and members of his family. Ben recounted bits and pieces of his family history and the story of the Zarda Daily enterprise. Many of you will have visited one or another of the Zarda Dairy stores to buy milk and ice-cream. While I had never been in a Zarda Dairy, I remembered the good times I had drinking the milk and eating the ice cream of our hometown Woodland Dairy. I just wished that Zarda Dairy stores still existed so I could experience what a blessing these stores were to Kansas.
These are the photos I took during the visit.
